Writer's Guideline

I am looking for writers for the Big Blue Marble Newsletter.  Currently, I need stories about people whose lives have somehow been affected by traveling-like-a-local rather than a tourist.  I am particularly interested in stories about people who have attended language schools, exchanged a home, or served as a volunteer in another country. I also would like short pieces about making money on the road, unusual budget travel suggestions, arranging a successful sabbatical, and reviews of language schools and volunteer programs abroad.

A list of possible content for the newsletters is listed on the Big Blue Marble Newsletter site. All writing must establish a human connection between the topic and the reader.  This is usually best achieved by interviewing travelers who have participated in the topic discussed in the article.  The more compelling and engaging the human angle of the story is presented the more likely you will see the article printed.  I will pay a small stipend for a finished article. Most articles will be between 500-1500 words.  Please contact me by phone or e-mail to discuss your ideas.
